Effective leaders in today’s organization must earn trust, and must have vision. As well, they need to be ethical in their approach to their work and have a continued energy to sustain themselves. Any leader’s action set the stage for the company’s success. Company’s want leaders with specific values, traits, skills and belief systems. hr360 can help you find, retain and train these leaders.
Values are beliefs and principles that guide one’s life and professional work behaviour. Values are instilled within most people at a young age by parents, teachers and other people who influence one’s life. Over time, values can change, and they change based on life events. Other values stay the same. They are an extension of who a person “is.” Most employers have company values and are guided by them. They base decisions on hiring, retaining and promotion employees on their values, and how they align with the company’s values. They dictate how they want an employee to “behave” and have expectations of employees based on company values. hr360’s consultants can help identify, hire, retain and align employee’s with company value systems.
Traits are a part of a person’s personality. They are important in life and to employers. They are patterns of behaviour that form over time, or are considered habitual. They are distinctive qualities a person exhibits in their behaviour and communication with others. Traits are distinctive and each person has varying traits. Some people call them characteristics. It is what makes each of us unique. Some people have some similar traits, however, when all the person’s traits are combined, it makes them different from everyone else. There are thousands of personality traits. Employers look for specific traits in a person when hiring or looking for people to promote as leaders.
I can help employers train new leaders, bring out leadership skills in existing leaders, and help leaders develop skills and traits in their work. Some skill sets may include: ambition, results-driven, enthusiasm for work, flexibility, honest, democratic, goals-oriented, confidence, reliability, self-managing, loyalty, determination, solutions-oriented. My training programs teach many traits and skills for today’s leaders.
Skills are defined by our ability to perform a task through knowledge or application. Skills are usually acquired through some type of training. hr360 is concerned with transferable skills. These are skills that are learned through training that can be transferred to the workplace. This is a broad definition that can apply to any type of training. There are general skills (leadership, team building, time management); and there are specific skills (keyboarding, fork lift operation, robotics). Our consultants can help employers design many types of training (some involving subject matter experts.)
Beliefs are assumptions people make, usually ingrained over time and due to repeated situations and events. Many beliefs are developed through childhood through significant others. As people mature, they develop their own belief systems, or keep some of their childhood beliefs. Over time, people come to understand their lives and truths through their beliefs. hr360 can help identify professional belief systems, change professional belief systems (if they are wanted or needed), and help instill beliefs through training. Employers can identify their company beliefs through strategic planning with hr360 consultants. Some examples of belief systems of companies could include dignity for all human beings; all cultures are valued equally. Employers may wish to have company beliefs written into their policy and procedure manuals, and follow through with employee training.
Leaders need to accelerate their leadership abilities. hr360 can help employees to learn the essential skills of successful leaders, improve winning strategies and puruse shared goals. Leading in times of change is essential to growth and competitivenss in the global market.
